 Scope of Cover

  • Wide scope of cover-This cover caters for Dental, Optical, Post hospitalization, newly diagnosed, pre-existing, chronic and psychiatric conditions 
  • Maternity cover including natural birth, caesarian section, antenatal, postnatal & routine immunizations
  • Treatment abroad on scheduled flights both in India and South Africa for treatment not available locally. Treatment is on reimbursement basis. 
  • 24 hour access to a wide panel of service providers
  • Bio-metric identification & access
  • No medical examinations required 
  • Accidental cases are covered in full under inpatient or outpatient limit
  • Lodger fees for children aged 7 years 
  • Home nursing under doctor’s recommendation under inpatient cover. 
  • Caters for alternative medicine such as acupuncture, chiropractor, homeopathy, herbal medicine if referred by a General Practitioner

Waiting periods 

  • No waiting period for the outpatient cover
  • No waiting period for accident cases 
  • 120 days for non-accident surgery, Gynecological and ENT surgery
  • 6 months for disclosed pre-existing, chronic, congenital and HIV/AIDS & related conditions
  • 2 months for Maternity related conditions 
  • 12 months for cancer related conditions 

The above waiting periods will also apply to new dependants being added to the scheme. There are no waiting periods for accident cases or persons transferring from another medical insurance policy subject to medical underwriting by Britam.

 

Eligibility

  • Minimum joining age is 1 month after birth and upon clinical discharge
  • Maximum joining age is 74 years subject to an annual review till 80 years old
  • Children dependents over 18 years are covered up to 25 years old with proof of schooling
  • Compulsory requirement of National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) membership

 

CO-PAYMENT

Co-payment is the initial fixed amount that a member contributes towards their Out-patient medical expenses

  • A co-pay of Ksh. 1,000 on all outpatient visits to Aga Khan, Nairobi, Karen, AAR Healthcare, Mater and Gertrude’s and their affiliate clinics
  • A co-pay of Ksh. 200 on all outpatient visits on other providers not mentioned above but within the Britam panel. Click here to view
